Social Studies Student Grading Information:
- Grades are based on a points system - certain class requirements are worth more, therefore they have more impact on the final quarter
grade:
- Class requirements are weighted in the following manner:
- 20%: Citizenship/responsibilities: Students earn points based on conduct in class: treating others with kindness and respect;
being responsible & prepared with materials (i.e. arriving in class with pencils, paper, headphones, etc.); exhibiting positive
behaviors that enhance our daily learning environment
- 20%: Daily participation/classroom activities: Students earn points based on their participation and contribution to daily in-
class activities such as walk-in problems, collaborative table work, discussions, quick-writes, etc.
- 20%: Completion of classwork/homework: Students earn points based on scores earned through assigned learning
activities
- 40%: Assessments: Students earn points based on their ability to demonstrate knowledge of the history content they are
learning in class. Assessments can be in the form of quizzes, discussions, debates, essays, projects, etc. Assessments are weighted
heaviest because this is how your student demonstrates knowledge of the concepts we've studied and learned in class.
Assessments are designed in a manner that a student must have knowledge of the concepts & content in order to do well.
